Propane is a very safe fuel. But as with any energy source, there are steps you should take to further ensure your safety:
If you detect a gas leak ...
- Immediately extinguish all smoking materials and other ignition sources;
- Do not light matches;
- Do not operate any electrical switches;
- Do not hang up the telephone; and
- IMMEDIATELY get everyone out of the home.
- Once everyone is outside, close all gas tank or cylinder supply valves (only if this can be accomplished safely).
In addition to that ...
Call us for service from your neighbor's house.
Do not allow anyone except qualified gas professionals or fire department personnel to enter the home until a complete inspection has determined the existence of a gas leak and, if so that the leak has been repaired.
Do not re-enter the area until a trained service person or the fire department advises that it is safe to return.
And don't forget, you can always call us if you have an emergency! We are always happy to help.
